Nicolette Doherty is the principal partner of a full service commercial law practice in Antigua and represents financial institutions, local and international investors and other corporate clients. She has extensive experience in relation to commercial and corporate disputes, private and commercial real estate transactions, banking, corporate finance, insolvency and restructuring, commercial fraud, asset recovery and enforcement proceedings. Working in collaboration with a multi-jurisdictionalteam of specialized asset recovery and insolvency practitioners, Nicolette acts as local counsel to the Stanford International Bank liquidation estate with significant worldwide assets under recovery. She has an in-depth knowledge of the local regulatory and commercial environment and has acted for creditors, court appointed receivers and provisional liquidators and on a regional level, advised on the creation of a regional trust fundto support policy holder claims against an insolvent insurer.
She is a graduate of the University of Kent, Canterbury, England where she obtained a BA in Law and Georgetown University, Washington D.C in the United States where she obtained an LLM in International and Comparative Law. She is a member of Middle Temple Inn of Court in London and is admitted to practice in England and Wales, Nigeria, and Antigua and Barbuda. She is also a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the United Kingdom. Her international background and experience give her a global perspective and an ability todevelop key partnerships and successful collaborations with other professionals within the region and around the world.
